Cambridgeshire Association for Local History (CALH) was founded in 1951 with the express purpose of encouraging and supporting local, social and family history groups and individuals in Cambridgeshire. It also acts as a forum for debate and information exchange.

To join CALH please download the membership and standing order form from the link above. Post your completed membership application form plus payment (unless paying by standing order) to the Treasurer at: 15 Orchard Way, Oakington, Cambridge CB24 3BQ, making your cheque payable to “CALH” or pay by direct bank payment using the bank details on the CALH form.
Benefits of CALH Membership
Monthly Lectures
Our monthly lecture programme runs from October to June. Talks are by local experts and well known speakers on a wide range of fascinating and informative topics with a local theme. These are free for individual and joint members. Members of societies and institutions that are corporate members pay £1.00 per talk, whilst non- members pay £2.50.
The Review is the annual CALH publication for newly-researched, local history articles. Members are given a free copy and are encouraged to contribute articles without cost.
The Bulletin is a biannual, online CALH publication for news about local, social and family history and related events. Members are given a free copy and are invited to contribute news.
The Spring Conference is a very popular, annual CALH event designed around specific Cambridgeshire themes. Members pay less than non-members to attend. Light refreshments are provided.
The Annual Awards Ceremony Every year authors are honoured who have made a significant contribution to local, social or family history in this county. The Awards are given out by our President, Mike Petty at a special ceremony . There is a notable, keynote speaker for this event. Come and join the celebrations! Light refreshments are provided.
The AGM is an important event, when members are able to have their say and when the officers for the coming year are elected. We welcome nominations or volunteers to help run the Association. We also have a notable speaker for this event. Light refreshments are provided.
The CALH website at www.calh.org.uk provides a clear and accessible source of useful CALH information plus relevant, recent news items.
Online information is provided by email to all our members who register a working email address with us. This enables us to keep you informed about CALH and other events, as well as publications or news that we think will be of interest to you.
The Conduit, published by the Cambridge Antiquarian Society, provides a listing of local history, family history and archaeological societies, groups, events and speakers. It is available to CALH members in printed form, as an emailed pdf file or via a link on the Cambridge Antiquarian Society website. http://www.camantsoc.org/
Excursions. Every year CALH organises interesting trips that reflect members’ interests. We are also ready to publicise the excursions of other Societies or Group to our members.
